Redesigning Ideas

When it comes time for you to redesign your home many people are clueless as to how they want to go about doing so. Fortunately I am here with a few ideas that will turn your home from dull and drab to chic and hip. Now the first thing you need to do is to decide which rooms you want to redesign. As many people will flip and flop as to what room to do first. So I will cover a good portion of the rooms for you to think about redesigning.

Mud room

This is the part of the house that is considered the main entrance. If you are limited on space then you will want to think about making a part of your kitchen into a mud room. This can easily be done by putting down a separate floor and installing a coat rack and placing a bench in the room. Mud rooms are an essential part of any household, especially id you live in a city that experiences a lot of rain such as Portland or Seattle.

Butler’s pantry

This is a great thing that in my opinion every house should have one. This is almost an essential part of any kitchen. It is a great place for you to have a second smaller sink that can be used to wash such items as your fine crystal and china. A butlers pantry is a wonderful addition to any kitchen especially if you happen to do a lot of entertaining. Many homeowners find that a butlers pantry is an essential addition to assisting them with preparation and clean up after a large party.

Dressing room

This is important for you to have as this will be a good place for you to organize you small items such as purses, scarfs and lingerie. This will be a wonderful way to organize your items so that your life will be easy to find the things that you may use in your everyday lives.

DO consider taller kitchen counters

Make sure that you raise you counter space to a height of around 42 inches. this will allow for you to have more counter space and allow for you to not have to bend and reach as much. This will be of great use for people who are slightly shorter which is a great advantage.

DO get smart about garbage

Everyone needs to start recycling. If you have an area just off the kitchen, which almost everyone does you should put in containers with wheels that you can put all of the recyclables in. Or you can make a built in shoot that goes directly outside were you can just drop the can’s and recyclables down the shoot and they go directly into the containers outside. Either way everyone needs to start recycling to save our planet.

DO make laundry less daunting

By placing the washer and dryer adjacent to a bedroom or bathroom. Many homeowners are installing stacked washer/dryer sets in the kitchen as well. doing this will save you time and space as you will not have to have space for a side by side unit.

DO conceal a drawer

Or cupboard beneath stairs, within a bookshelf or behind a painting to hide valuables. This is a wonderful idea in an effort to hide things that you want to be hidden in a non logical place in case of a home invasion. Having a conceal drawer is a great idea if you have family heirlooms that you don’t want anything to happen to them.

No matter what you final decision is on the look of your redesign just remember some of the tips that I gave you. They will come in handy in the process of trying to figure out what it is that you want to do with your home and where you want to make improvements at.
